As you may or may not know, I’ve become a runner. To date, I’ve run 2 half marathons (13.1 miles) and am running my 3rd to help find a cure for Crohn’s disease & ulcerative colitis! I will be running the Rock ‘N Roll Las Vegas Half Marathon on December 5th, 2010 with Team Challenge, a fundraising program for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). This is my second time participating in Team Challenge. I ran the Napa to Sonoma Wine Country Half Marathon this past July with a personal record time of 1:59:47!! Last season was such an amazing experience that I decided to join Team Challenge this season as a mentor. I have a group of mentees that I am mentoring through the training and fundraising process. I am so passionate about this program that I am not only donating money, I’m also donating my time and energy.
Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are known together as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are painful, medically incurable illnesses that attack the digestive system. The cause of IBD remains unknown. However, the effectiveness of recently developed treatment methods and steady advances in research brings us closer every day to finding the cause and probable cure of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
Last season in Napa, my Wisconsin team raised over $140,000 for CCFA. Nationally, we raised $2.5 million! I personally surpassed my goal and raised $4,309 for CCFA! This time around, my goal is only $2,500. Can you help? Over 80% of every dollar I raise will directly fund the mission of CCFA, to cure Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by inflammatory bowel diseases. I am hopeful you will join me in the fight against Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. You can help by donating generously to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America. Enclosed is a donation form and return envelope. You can also donate by visiting my fundraising website at www.tinyurl.com/SSVegas. All donations are tax deductible. Would you consider donating $10 for every mile I run? How about $5? How about $1? Every dollar counts!
Please make donations by October 15th, my personal fundraising deadline. Thank you for your generosity and support!
Warm regards,
Sarah
